4137 / Luminous intensity (Candela): Roboter-Goniophotometer at the PTB in Braunschweig: EUROPA, DEUTSCHLAND, NIEDERSACHSEN, BRAUNSCHWEIG (BRAUNSCHWEIG, GERMANY), 28.06.2007: Photometry at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt PTB in Braunschweig, Germany. The SI base unit of luminous intensity, the candela, is origin of the luminous flux unit, lumen. The PTB`s unique robot-goniophotometer consists of 3 robots with arms of up to 6.5 m length and 7 joints each. One arm aligns the light source to be measured, here a blue LED array, the others move 2 photometer heads in hemispheres and measure luminous intensity and color in all directions and at various distances. Light sources thus calibrated are transfer standards to industrial applications. - Marc Steinmetz / VISUM - Keywords: Germany, Physikalisch, Technische, Bundesanstalt, PTB, science, technology, physics, metrology, base, unit, international, system, of, units, SI, measure, measurement, standard, lab, light, luminous, flux, in
